Full Mouth Rehabilitation in Seoul for Overseas Patients

Full mouth rehabilitation is a planned rebuild of most or all teeth using crowns, implants, veneers, root canals and gum care together. At Lucid Dental Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul, cases are planned by prosthodontist Dr. Park Hyun-min. Most overseas patients need two or more trips, and fees are built from per-tooth reference prices.

What is full mouth rehabilitation?

Full mouth rehabilitation is a planned rebuild of most or all of your teeth, combining several treatments to restore chewing, bite, and appearance together. It may include crowns, implants, bridges, veneers, root canals, gum treatment, and dentures, sequenced so each step supports the next.

It is different from a "smile makeover," which focuses mainly on how the front teeth look. Full mouth rehabilitation starts with function: how your teeth meet, whether your jaw joints are comfortable, and whether the foundations (roots, gums and bone) are healthy.

Who typically needs a full mouth rebuild?

People considering full mouth rehabilitation often have a mix of problems that have built up over years. Common reasons include:

  • Several missing teeth, making chewing difficult on one or both sides
  • Teeth worn down from grinding or acid erosion, so the face looks shorter
  • Many old fillings, crowns or bridges that are failing at the same time
  • Advanced gum disease with loose teeth
  • A collapsed or uneven bite, sometimes with jaw discomfort

Why does a prosthodontist lead this kind of treatment?

Prosthodontics is the dental specialty focused on restoring and replacing teeth. At Lucid Dental Clinic, full mouth cases are planned by Dr. Park Hyun-min, a certified prosthodontist. His training includes a clinical implant program at Seoul National University Graduate School of Dentistry, an advanced implant program at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and an endodontics program at the University of Pennsylvania (both continuing education), and an advanced course with the Korean Academy of TMJ. What are the stages of full mouth rehabilitation?

  1. Records and remote review: you send X-rays, photos and your goals through an online consultation. We tell you whether a full rebuild seems likely and what to bring.
  2. Comprehensive exam in Seoul: 3D imaging, photos, bite records and a gum assessment.
  3. Diagnosis and written plan: an itemized plan in English that sets out the order of treatment, number of trips and reference fees. See how we plan your treatment.
  4. Foundation phase: extractions, cleaning and gum therapy, root canals and fillings, so every remaining tooth is healthy.
  5. Surgical phase (if needed): implant placement, bone grafting or sinus lifts, followed by healing time.
  6. Trial phase: temporary crowns or a trial set of teeth to test the new bite, speech and appearance.
  7. Final restorations: permanent crowns, bridges, veneers or implant teeth are made and fitted.
  8. Protection and maintenance: a night guard if you grind, and a check-up schedule at home or in Seoul.

How many trips to Seoul does it take?

Most full mouth cases take two or more trips. When implants are involved, the jawbone needs time to fuse with each implant; Cleveland Clinic describes this as roughly three to nine months. The table below shows a typical structure. Your own schedule is set after your exam.

Case type Typical number of trips What usually happens on each
Crowns and veneers only, healthy roots and gums 1 longer trip Preparation, temporaries, trial, final fit
Crowns plus a few implants 2 trips, several months apart Trip 1: foundation work and implant surgery. Trip 2: implant crowns and final restorations
Many implants, grafting or a full arch 2–3 trips Grafting and implants, healing, then trial and final teeth

How much does full mouth rehabilitation cost in Korea?

There is no single price, because every case uses a different mix of treatments. At Lucid Dental your estimate is built from per-tooth reference fees, for example:

  • Implant tooth (fixture + custom abutment + zirconia crown): about ₩1,190,000–1,490,000 each
  • Bone graft: ₩300,000–450,000 per site; sinus lift: ₩500,000 (crestal) or ₩1,000,000 (window)
  • LUCINATE porcelain veneers: from ₩1,190,000 per tooth
  • Inlay: ₩300,000; night guard: ₩600,000

At roughly ₩1,400 per US$, one implant tooth is about US$850–1,065. Multiply by your number of teeth and add the foundation work to see a rough range. You receive a full written estimate before starting. Korea's VAT refund for foreign medical tourists ended on December 31, 2025, so do not count on a refund.

Are there alternatives to rebuilding every tooth?

Yes. If most teeth in an arch cannot be saved, a full-arch implant bridge or an implant-supported denture may be simpler than restoring tooth by tooth. The All-on-4 and full-arch implant guide explains those options. For some people, conventional dentures remain a sensible, lower-cost choice.

What should I do before my first trip?

A little preparation makes the first visit more productive. Gather any recent X-rays and records from your current dentist, list your medicines and health conditions, and note any teeth that hurt or feel loose. If you grind at night, mention it, because it changes material choices. Many full mouth plans include several dental crowns, so it also helps to know which old crowns or bridges you already have and roughly how old they are.

What are the risks and limits?

Large cases carry the combined risks of each procedure: surgical complications with implants, sensitivity after crown preparation, chipping of porcelain, and the need for future maintenance. Grinding habits and gum health strongly affect how long the work lasts. Individual results vary; a consultation and exam are required.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I need full mouth rehabilitation or just a few crowns?

It depends on how many teeth are affected and whether your bite has changed. A panoramic X-ray and photos let us give a preliminary view online, but a full exam in Seoul is needed to confirm the plan.

Can I have temporary teeth while my implants heal?

In many cases, yes. Temporary crowns, a temporary bridge, or a removable temporary denture can be provided so you are not without teeth between trips. The type depends on your case and is discussed at planning.

Can my dentist at home do some of the work?

Some foundation work, such as cleanings and simple fillings, can be done at home before you travel. Treatments that are part of the coordinated plan are usually done by the same team so the bite and restorations fit together.

Will my face look different afterward?

If worn or missing teeth have shortened your bite, restoring tooth height can change how your lips and lower face are supported. The trial phase with temporaries lets you see and adjust this before final teeth are made.

How long does full mouth rehabilitation last?

Longevity depends on each part: implants can often last many years, while crowns and veneers may eventually need replacing. Regular check-ups, good cleaning, and a night guard if you grind help protect the work.

Can I choose sedation for long appointments?

Conscious sedation is available at Lucid Dental after a health assessment. It can help if you feel anxious or have long procedures, and you will need someone to accompany you afterward.
